What should I wear to my portrait session?

All of my clients receive a detailed email that helps them prepare and select the right clothing for their specific session. My list provides tips for selecting outfits based on fit, skin tone, backdrop, etc. I also provide clients with my personal list of favorites (like black turtlenecks) to my least favorites (shorts). My clients receive a guide on how to prepare for their session from the moment our consultation ends to the day they head to the studio.

There are differences between how I prepare my clients for the four categories of sessions I offer: Sanguine Brands, Sanguine Portraits, Sanguine Fine Art, and Libidinous. I’ve spent a lot of time honing down my list to fit each session style and the specifics for each client. I create Pinterest boards to share my inspiration and provide my clients with specific ideas for their time in the studio. For example, with my fine art brand, clients have access to my silks and fabrics to create those regal queen portraits.

I don’t know how to pose. Will you guide me during a session?

Posing is my specialty. The majority of my clients rely on my expertise to create the iconic Sanguine images which I am known for. I actually love working with real people and directing them into poses that work best for their body type, comfortability, and style. My job is to make each person into a piece of artwork, to ensure they have a great time, and to have lots of fun during the process. Most of my work is very formal and exquisite, but we have so much fun and laughter creating those images.

Jervale P.

Joanna of Sanguine Portraiture is an amazing, professional photographer that I would highly recommend. I booked the Sanguine Experience for my maternity photo shoot and it was a great decision! As a visionary and perfectionist, she invested time to understand my vision and exceeded my expectations. The most difficult part of the entire process was deciding which beautiful images I wanted to keep for my collection - she’s awesome!

Laura S.

I loved working with Joanna! She made me feel like a rockstar during my session, which was much needed after having a baby. The images she captured are beautiful and are going to be cherished by my family for a lifetime. I cannot thank you enough for the lovely work you did & how you captured me, as well as my little girl.

Tai Q.

They say that image is everything and Sanguine Portraiture never fails to represent me, my business, and my family in the best possible light. Joanna has the incredible ability to make all of her subjects appear regal and beautiful while still making the actual photo session be incredibly light and fun.

Brianna T.

My experience with Joanna of SanguIne Portraiture was one that I will never forget! She is extremely talented, and professional. I felt like royalty this day because she made sure to accommodate to the fullest extent. I am honored to have been in front of her camera.

I mean, the level of professionalism Joanna served was simply unmatched. She made me feel so comfortable from the moment I walked into her studio until the time I left. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience... not to talk of my pictures! The bomb.com !!! Joanna KNOWS her stuff. Her passion and love for what she does just oozes out of her.

Jaime N.

I had a PHENOMENAL experience with Joanna. I love her shooting style and vision- which came to life so elegantly and beautifully. I love the array of props, fabrics and clothing pieces she had and so kindly let us explore during our session. If you're looking for a positive experience where you will be made to feel the most feminine and beautiful you've ever felt book with Sanguine Portraiture!

Jac L.

A wonderful experience! She knows her stuff! I am a dancer and know “good” angles well, but she really helped pull out even more and we got great shots!

Karmyn E.

Joanna of Sanguine Portraiture is nothing short of PHENOMENAL and my experience from start to finish was magical. She made me feel so beautiful and regal and I am so grateful to have experienced Joanna’s creative prowess and nurturing spirit.
